Christmas Mythology and Commerce

In “Christmas Mythology and Commerce”, I explore Christmas from two perspectives: as a spiritually charged celebration and as a highly commercialized event of the present. The collages intertwine religious, architectural, and consumer-cultural image fragments into visual spaces in which longing, emptiness, promise, and overstimulation appear at the same time. The series emerged as an artistic reflection on a holiday that is meant to stand for calm, closeness, and meaning, but is often shaped in reality by consumer pressure, staging, and social expectations. It was shown in Berlin in 2023 together with Sebastian Herrling as part of the exhibition “Collage Battle.” The works invite viewers to look behind the festive surface and reconsider Christmas as a field of social tension.
